By facilitating several additional benefits for employees, we aim to fulfill the different desires of our staff. About the Job

This is a great opportunity for someone with significant cost control knowledge and experience to work in a strong project focused environment. You can look forward to becoming an integrated part of the project team by working closely with the project managers and managing a wide range of projects within a highly dynamic environment.

As Cost Control Engineer you’ll become an integral part of the project team by working together with the project managers. This means that you will consult and assist the project manager on the cost status of each project and how to optimize and improve the budgeted profits. On a monthly basis, you’ll prepare the Project Management Report (PMR). For the PMR you’ll consolidate all the relevant information required (costs, hours, planning, risk analysis, quality/efficiency, financial status (invoicing, hedging/treasury, cash flow) etc) by interacting with the project team.

You’ll act as the ‘financial conscience’ of the project team and prepare/estimate all project change orders/claims and follow-up. Working mainly with lumpsum contracts, you think along with the project manager and provide input about topics like procurement and construction and how to best manage this from a cost perspective.

By taking a more pro-active approach to cost control, meaning going from a cost reporting to a more cost control state of mind, it’s getting increasingly important for you to be part of and play an active role in risk assessment and project progress meetings. This allows you to gain more insight into the projects and will ensure you’ll actually stay in control of the costs.

Based on your cost control experience you are able to keep a helicopter view whilst at the same time you know exactly when to zoom in and understand where to look for additional information.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Responsible to establish the first project budget/forecast based on handover bid from Estimating/Proposal Department
  • Responsible for the updates of changes to the forecast based on inputs from project management and other project team members as applicable
  • Prepare and maintain various documents and reports such as sourcing list for financed projects, change orders and registers, procurement hardware budgets
  • Preparation of monthly invoices to Client and follow up works (including reimbursable items)
  • Approve standard commitment control and vendor/subcontractors invoice
  • Preparation of project specific analysis, and close-out information with a view towards improving feedback data and estimation tools on future contracts / proposals
  • Develop and maintain departmental tools, procedures and historical databases on a continuous basis

We offer you not only a job, but an inspiring journey in a truly global environment where you team up to break down boundaries thanks to the innovation, creativity and pioneer spirit which drive our people.

About You
You’ll have a Master’s degree and proven experience (at least 5 years) in a similar position. We are open minded about your industry background but having experience with working in a technical environment within the energy industry helps you to succeed in this role.

Your English communication skills are excellent both in speaking as well as in writing. Your interpersonal skills allow you to interact with people at different levels within the organization and make you a valued part of the team.

You have strong analytical skills and are able to work under pressure but more importantly you’re able to meet deadlines and make important decisions whilst being under pressure. You have advanced knowledge of Excel (knowledge of Power BI is desirable).

If you recognize yourself in the described profile and you would like to work in a dynamic international environment with motivated and highly educated people, don’t hesitate to apply!
